Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant is how I would describe “Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work,” the new documentary chronicling a year in the life of Joan Rivers, the legendary and ground-breaking performer. It’s insightful, candid, and most of all humorous! The clips and footage from the start of her life and career are priceless moments in time, luckily captured on film.
Joan Rivers is a work-a-holic. She loves it, thrives on it, and needs it, much like an addict needs their fix. When her calendar is full, Joan is at her happiest. She has spent a lifetime making others laugh, often at her expense. From theatre to movies to stand-up comedy, Joan has entertained the world. Through her books, lectures, and jewelry line, she has helped countless millions get through the rough times and come out feeling beautiful!
Joan has seen her star shine and fade and shine ever so brightly again. She opened the door for many female performers of today, but Joan is still opening doors by not stopping. At a young 75, Joan continues to perform stand-up comedy, sell her jewelry on QVC, lecture on how to survive life, write books, and starring in a new reality series with her daughter Melissa.
Love her or hate her, Joan Rivers IS a legendary performer! I would highly encourage everyone to go see “Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work” and to see her perform live on stage so you can see for yourself the legend that is Joan Rivers! Both experiences will be moments you will never forget…
