This contest is now over and Congratulations go out to Annie! Tune in next week for another edition of “Win It Wednesday” because you never know, the winner just might be you! This week’s edition of “Win It Wednesday” is celebrating Elvis’ life (since Monday 8/16 was the anniversary of his death) by giving away, to one lucky reader at random, a mug to the 2005 production of Broadway’s “All Shook Up” which starred fellow “Adaumbelle’s Quest” participants Alix Korey, Mark Price, and Anika Larsen, along with Cheyenne Jackson, Jenn Gambatese, Leah Hocking, Sharon Wilkins, Nikki M. James, and Curtis Holbrook. To enter, simply answer the question below. The winner will be announced at 5pm! Good Luck!
If you could cast Elvis in any Broadway show, what show would you cast him in and who would you cast as his leading lady/man?
I would cast Elvis in Rock of Ages opposite a young Alice Ripley.
I would cast Elvis in Million Dollar Quartet duh lol the other three cast members would be Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins but nobody would play themselves including Elvis.
I would cast him in MEMPHIS…opposite Beyonce. Is there anybody who knows more about race music, small radio stations, Baptists, mute bartenders (okay maybe not that), the allure of the big city, and the power of publicity??? I THINK NOT!
Carousel, maybe. It might not fit his voice quite right, but it would be interesting nonetheless. For his leading lady?…Julie Reiber! (sticking with the All Shook Up theme)
I would cast Elvis as the phantom in The Phantom of the Opera with Janis Joplin as Christine.
I think a young Elvis would be a fantastic Link in Hairspray – I’m sure he’d surpassed even Matthew Morrison in fan-girl popularity! They could even have a real-life search for the best Tracy – can you imagine how crazy the girls would be?!
I absolutely loved All Shook Up and saw it many times in its short-lived run. If Elvis could’ve had his own original, albeit jukebox, musical, this would’ve been the perfect vehicle (of course it would!). But, imagine him having played Chad opposite perhaps Anette Funicello or another young popular actress. This show remains one of my absolute favorite shows to this day!
I can kind of see Elvis as the Beast in Beauty and the Beast with Marilyn Monroe as Belle.
This may seem like radical thinking, but if I could cast Elvis in any musical, I’d love to cast a young Elvis in a production of Spring Awakening as Melchior.
The man knew all about how to push the buttons of the older generation during his day, thus he’d be a perfect fit for the role (in his younger days, of course).
As for his leading lady, I’d have to say that I think someone in a similar vein to his popularity with teens today, like Demi Lovato or something would be an appropriate match. However, I could also see the original Wendla, Lea Michele doing a fine job.
How about Elvis as Aldolpho in “The Drowsy Chaperone”? His Drowsy Chaperone would be Carol Burnett in her prime. “I Am Aldolpho” would be BRILLIANT!
I would cast Elvis as Roger in Rent. Add some highlights to his hair, cut off his sleeves, and I would definitely listen to him sing One Song Glory on repeat.
He would also be a good Ren in Footloose.
