R.R.R.E.D. A Secret MusicalKatie ThompsonWhat a night! Not only did I get to have my first face to face interview with the incomparable Katie Thompson (which appears below), but I also got to see Katie’s show “R.R.R.E.D. A Secret Musical.” presented by Shea Sullivan and the New York  Musical Festival. According to show notes, the Oxford Hair Foundation did a study in 2005 that predicts by the year 2100 the recessive gene that causes red hair will be extinct due to globalization & population intermixing. Based upon this true study, the show takes you inside R.R.R.E.D., a group dedicated to preserving the red-headed species. With a voice, belt, and riff that most only dream of, Katie Thompson lets her voice be heard and heard it should be! Luckily, Katie sings throughout. Adding to her amazement (and Katie is surrounded with some of the finest performers) are Patrick Livingston (who co-wrote the book with Katie), Kathy Deitch, Nathan Balser, and a surprise celebrity guest each night. To find out who that celebrity guest is, you’ll have to go see the show! Tonight’s guest was the talented and beautiful voiced Kate Shindle (Miss America 1998). “R.R.R.E.D. A Secret Musical” runs through Sunday, October 4. For tickets, click here and for more on Katie Thompson visit: http://www.katiethompson.com/.
