The UnderstudyI went to see the Roundabout Theatre’s hilarious production of “The Understudy” tonight starring Tony Award Winner Julie White, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, & Justin Kirk. Take a look inside the world of theatre as you watch what happens during the dress rehearsal of putting a show together. The amount of comedic genius in this show is pretty amazing. Julie White’s impeccable comedic timing shines brightly as stage manager “Roxanne.” She has a unique gift for comedy as was already brilliantly demonstrated in Broadway’s “Little Dog Laughed.” There’s not a moment that goes by without her getting rousing laughter from the audience. Justin Kirk gives a brilliant performance as “Harry,” The Understudy, convinced he will go on stage. Mark-Paul Gosselaar makes a triumphant stage debut as “Jake,” the star of the show. He knows how to command the stage & keeps your interest. He has great comedic chops & plays the star perfectly. The inside industry jokes play off wonderfully, while the chemistry between Julie, Mark-Paul, and Justin blend together as though they were meant to be together. For a night of laughter and fun go see “The Understudy” at the Laura Pels Theatre on 46th Street (between 6th & 7th Avenue) in NYC until January 17.

I also had the privilege of meeting Julie White & Mark-Paul Gosselaar. What an evening!

Ordinary DaysJaredGertner01Be sure to catch fellow “Adaumbelle’s Quest” participant Jared Gertner, along with Hunter Foster, Lisa Brescia, and Kate Wetherhead in Roundabout Theatre’s production of “Ordinary Days.” According to press notes, “Ordinary Days” tells the story about four young New Yorkers whose lives intersect as they search for fulfillment, happiness, and cabs. It’s sure to be a good time!
